About Keys and Voices

About Me

Hi, I’m Rachel. Welcome to Keys and Voices! I’m so excited to help you reach your musical potential. A little about me…I have been playing the piano since age 7, and singing since before I could talk. I took many years of piano and voice lessons myself as a child and teen. I have a master’s degree in Music Learning and Teaching from ASU, and I have taught music to students as young as kindergarten all the way through high school. I most recently taught middle school choir in the Peoria Unified School District. I enjoy teaching now in a more personalized setting, which allows me to focus entirely on YOUR needs and goals. Let’s get started!

Policies

All lessons are paid on a monthly basis for each student.

Private Lesson Policy Main Points

  • Lesson fees are due by the 1st of every month, and can be paid by check, Venmo, Zelle, or ClassWallet (2% processing fee applied to ClassWallet invoices).
  • Missed lessons (less than 24 hour's notice) and/or no-shows may not be used as credit for new lesson charges.
  • One make-up lesson may be offered per month, in cases of illness, vacation, or other extenuating circumstances, as long as at least 24 hours' notice is given.
  • If you miss more than three lessons due to no-shows or late call-ins (less than 24 hours' notice), your lesson time will be released to use for other students, and you will need to reschedule a new lesson time with Rachel.
  • 30-day notice is required in the event you wish to discontinue lessons. If less than 30-day notice is given, tuition for the month must be paid in full.
  • If the student wishes to take a break for summer or other reasons (two month maximum), a $60 holding fee will be paid per month to retain the student's lesson slot upon return. Otherwise, the student's lesson slot will be released.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach out to me at rachel@keysandvoices.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

My music studio is located at my home in North Peoria. My cross streets are Lake Pleasant Parkway and Williams Rd.

No, at this time lessons are only offered in person at my home.

Generally speaking, keyboards in the $100-$500 are not sufficient for quality playing at home. The feel and functionality of a basic keyboard are vastly different than an acoustic or quality digital piano. If you would like to go the digital route, here is a good blog post with helpful information on what to look for:

Yes! I have daytime availability, and I am registered to receive payments through ClassWallet.

For piano lessons, I recommend the student be at least 6 years old and learning to read. For voice lessons, I recommend the student be at least 12 years old.

Piano Students: Please bring a new spiral/composition notebook and a 3-ring binder. If you have taken lessons before, please also bring your previous lesson books.

Voice Students: Please bring a new spiral/composition notebook, a 3-ring binder, and a water bottle.

I will notify you of any required lesson books and either send a link for you to purchase, or purchase them myself and add the cost to the next month's tuition.
